- Amazon to make alternate history show where black people are not slaves
http://www.complex.com/pop-culture/2017/08/amazon-producing-alt-history-show-where-black-people-get-reparations
Enter Amazon and their announcement that they will also be producing an alternate history drama in which black people received reparations in the form of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama and formed a separate country. The nation, which is called New Colonia, has had an often turbulent relationship with it's northern neighbor and former enslaver, the United States. The show will take place close to the present day, with New Colonia growing to become a formidable nation on the world stage that reaches peace with the U.S., a country which is in decline. The show, which has been in works for over a year, will be titled Black America.

Alright, so now nobody should have a problem with the show HBO is doing. Good, no more whining.

How the f*** would those three states ever become a global power. There's a reason that even in one of the most powerful countries on Earth they're still a s***hole.

LMAO ... arent conservatives doing the exact same thing with the new confederacy show? :u |
I'm curious as to how they are going to show those three states in particular becoming a world power. If they have an even remotely possible way then that is cool, if not then I think they should reconsider and move it somewhere else.
I wonder if they chose those simply because of the history of the states, leading to more drama, and not so much what they could do economically.

This is what happens when you let SJW's with no talent make a tv show. Who was dumb enough to pay for this lol.
FFX is the best game of all time. The only good Nintendo franchises are Pokemon and Fire Emblem. Comics are for kids. https://i.imgur.com/LJ3WSyB.gif

It's such a nonsensical premise
I'd be surprised if this even actually gets to airing |

OpheliaAdenade posted...AcFan87 posted...LMAO I don't know. I didn't even know about the show period till CE made me aware of it. From the sound of it, it is based around a what if scenario where the confederacy didn't lose the civil war. I mean, regardless of how it portrays slavery, it is rewriting history. |
sounds like someone took the idea from a mod for a Paradox game and decided it would work as a show.
|
oh, I thought it really was about there being no black slaves in the US.
it's an interesting idea, I guess. |

Losing 3 states would change everything. Butterfly creating a tsunami and all that. new colonia becoming a world power though, that would seem difficult, especially with the US declining, unless they were propping them up for years. like at best i could see them at about mexico level on a per capita basis. |

How important is the Mississippi River for shipping? Controlling the end of it is the only thing I could see them having any power. super important. |

They most likely chose those states because they have the highest number of African Americans and the most extensive histories of slavery. |

Not to mention all the natural disasters that hit these particular areas. Flooding from the river in Mississippi and Louisiana. Runoff from the chemicals in the river have created dead spots, etc. Hurricanes. Hell, repairing the damage done in Louisiana alone would be all but impossible if it was reliant on just those three states. They'd never survive.

That alternate Nazi history show on Amazon was popular enough. Maybe this will go places.

Ironically, if what this show is going to be about is black separatism, that's the same thing that a lot of the white supremacists (or as they call themselves, "race realists") and KKK types want.
Many of them will deny that they think whites are superior, but rather they think that whites and blacks should live separately and form their own racially isolated societies. That sounds like this show. This could end up being the KKK's favorite show.
My main is currently warned for silly reasons.

*looks at Liberia and Haiti*
I find the show's premise quite unrealistic. |
