I personally feel like the percentage of people that make up the category of Neo-nazis or Alt-right is so minuscule that its not that grave of a concern as the media is making it out t be. I would like to believe America is far past such ideologies at this point and that these fringe groups are just an extremely vocal minority. Thoughts?

I generally agree with you, TC. The far right is given far more attention than its numbers deserve.

The alt-right may just be a very outspoken minority, but that doesn't mean we can ignore them. Especially not after they have literally taken a life.

So what about BLM, Antifa and other far left groups? The far left is a bigger problem than the far "right" ones.

Is it? I basically think of them as two sides of the same coin with minor nuances

And yet we have what we had today. No, the US is NOT past it. Not enough. This kind of rally should not happen. Should not be happening multiple times a year. Should not be killing people.

This. They literally influenced the presidency. Internet trolls aren't just on the internet anymore.

It was a rally in a relatively small town with a proportionately small amount of participants that an OVERWHELMING amount of the country, to include whites, disagreed with and thought was appalling.

If it seemed like it had any impact at all it was a byproduct of the media plastering these hicks all over the front page. Giving them too much attention imo.

It just sucks because it's a reminder that these kind of people are out there, and it reminds us that while progress has been made we still have a ways to go.

If the media had left it alone and there weren't counter protesters literally nothing would have happened
A thousand eyes, and one.
I have a good friend of about 10 years who lives there, and she got threatened by one of those f***ing Christian bastards. Thankfully nothing came of it, but their cowardice at least keeps them somewhat in check.
I have a signature. Apparently this is important, but I still don't have my secret cool kid decoder ring yet.

We should be extremely worried that Nazis are feeling so emboldened that they go out and do this s***.

We have been stagnant for a long time TC. We have inhabited this planet for thousands of years and have had numerous chances to get it right......we should be well beyond racism, greed, war, and all of the other ills of society.

This is what happens when you push too hard. Spend enough time telling white people that they are born evil and need to die to make the world a better place, and they will turn to someone else that doesn't treat them like lesser life forms, even if it's because those people are white supremacists.

If people are going to label you a misogynist nazi because you are white and have a penis, then you might as well hang with the Nazis.

Exaggerated statement but I think theres some truth there. White people and male bashing has become more commonplace within mainstream culture in the past decade or so, it's more fuel to the fire for these radicals who already felt like victims.

What the f***
People would have you believe that the accusation of racism is more offensive than ACTUAL racism.

Okay, first off, you're saying that the new s media, whose entire job it is to report on things like this, to just ignore it. Newsworthy events aside, in the era of Donald Trump's "fake news", not reporting on the doings and rallies of the alt-right is just begging to have people accuse them of supressing coverage or some bulls*** like that. It's heads, the alt-right wins and tails, the news companies lose.

Second, are you really going to blame people who are against Nazism instead of the people actually spouting Nazi rhetoric? The bulls*** defense of "Liberals made me this way, they drove the white man into a corner" is the pitiful cry of a toddler who knows he f***ed up but still insists on blaming the family dog. People who attribute their reprehensible views on "the other guy" have zero concept of taking responsibility for their actions. Whenever I encounter racism, I don't shout from the rooftops to f***ing kill white men and drive cars through crowds of them because that's a f***ing lunatic idea and is inexcusable. Literally everyone else in the world needs to take responsibility, but these entitled manchildren think they're some sort of exceptional beings who don't need to follow the rules everyone else does.

f*** Nazis
f*** the alt-right
f*** people who give these people a pass

Oh? And how about it swinging the other way? Would you be so willing to excuse someone who goes around killing neo-Nazis because they have been, in turn, pushed too far by the alt-right and white supremacy? Or would you condemn them for extreme actions and terrorism? This kind of excuse opens the door to a constant escalation and that's not where you want any civilized nation to go.
