We are talking specifically about the legacy of the confederacy and the slave-owning racists that led it. Miss me with your "but white people are at a disadvantage!!!" bulls***.
There should be no monuments to these awful people, and their legacy should be one of nothing but shame. Instead, they are still revered in parts of the country and their images loom over public areas named for them, or named for "freedom", and so on. A flag that stood for a nation fighting tooth abd nail for their right to own people should not be flown in any public institution, nor should it be flown with pride by anyone. This is unacceptable, and it is proof that America never did enough.

germany literally bans any depiction of a swastika or putting your arm in a certain way. I did not know that. I was on a road trip from Germany to The Netherlands and somewhere in between (Luxembourg maybe), we stopped at a gas station to use the restroom. I go into the restroom, close the stall door, and etched into the door was: [Swastika] One day the world will know Hitler was right /personalNazistory

I think America went through a phase when they first built these statues where they were like "Hey, the Civil War, that was pretty cool right? There was a Union side, and a Confederate side! We learned about this in history class! We should like, build statues of the generals and stuff! Yay American history!"
And now people are finally realizing "hey wait a minute....the confederacy was literally fighting to keep slavery alive. Like, they wanted to continue to enslave another race of people. Like....that was what the entire war was about." "Oops." |

The difference is that there isn't the same free speech laws in Germany. Talking about Nazis in a positive way is literally illegal there So you're saying without those laws they would erect statues for Nazis? |

If you fly the Confederate flag you are a traitor to this nation. You cant talk about "real Americans" and then fly the banner of secession.

The people building and defending these statues and flying this flag knew full goddamned well what they stood for.
