So before dating seems like the only logical answer. It should be standard that the other person should ask right away if something is amiss.

I'm not trans so I won't claim to speaking from experience.
But I have to wonder why a trans person would want to be with someone they didn't feel they could trust enough to be honest about it.

I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt here and say a date or two first. You do want someone to get to know you as a person, not as a trans first. Needless to say (or not given the topics today) it must be brought up before sex. I'd like to say before heavy kissing if possible.
