Eg Ive seen people working behind the cash register get judgemental and s***.
Like b****, the EBT being used at that grocery store is helping keep you employed |

Society teaches people to disrespect others without understanding another person's circumstances unfortunately.
I can safely say that Grocery stores, restaurants, etc waste food than people on EBT, so who are the real bad guys here?

A lot of people today exist on a "in it for myself" attitude, so they resent the idea that their taxes go on helping other people.

The people that complain about EBT also largely identify as Christians. Pretty interesting.

Yeah this is all true. EBTs aren't the problem. Look at EBT. You can buy some nasty s*** with those and we wonder why this country is in a health care crisis.
Then you take a look at all the regulations requiring restaurants to throw out food because it's a liability to give it to hungry people even though it's 99.9% likely to be totally fine. THEN we wonder why this country is in a health care crisis.

This is an attitude that extends everywhere I find.
For example, I went into harrods and was looking around at handbags for my girlfriend (awful store by the way, don't shop there). The s*** was expensive as hell. And the f***ing looks I got from the staff there. Like I wasn't worthy of the stuff they were pushing. b****, you work in retail. I doubt you're on slightly more than minimum wage even if this is ultra luxury. Don't give me that better-than-you smug a****** face.

I also hate seeing someone pull up with a full cart and then buying a big case of beer.....if you have money left over to buy a 32 pack of beer then it should be going towards food not beer. |

EBT never really bothered me but when I worked in a convenience store, it would piss me off when people try to buy smokes or beer with it, even though they can't.

I've always thought it was better to help people by giving them the tools to help themselves, rather than just giving them what they need. In some cases that's not possible, and it's great to be able to help people when they really need it. Problem is, I think a lot of people on various forms of welfare are just taking advantage of the system, and could be paying for themselves instead of feeding off of taxpayers.

I think the majority of people realize that most people using EBT are using it because they need to and don't take significant issue. That being said there is always the minority that should honestly be irritating to anyone who is paying taxes (or anyone using EBT responsibly). I mean, it does kind of suck that my wife and I had to work full time while paying for college and taking classes and scrimping by on cheap food and no significant luxury, but then a single mom can get a free college ride, free food, free childcare, be able to attend college without having to worry scheduling classes and studying around work, etc.

She's investing government money, increasing her own capital, and will presumably reinvest that money in the economy. Everyone on food stamps should resell soda.

I only don't like them because it usually makes the transaction longer.
I used to cashier, WIC checks were even more time-consuming, and it would be very specific items/brands the mother could get.

it's users are poor, and have a disproportionately higher amount of minorities that qualify for them it's much easier to demonize it based on those two factors pretty much.
