It's just that, Trump kind of did ask Putin to continue spreading fake news about Hillary Clinton. Then there were his ties to a potential money laundering scheme between him and the Kremlin. Not to mention he allowed Russian spies into the oval office, and he offered Russia access to our computers to allow them to "beef up security" not to mention Trump was willing to give Russia buildings sanctioned away by Obama.
He also opposed that Russian sanctions package passed by Congress. There's also the matter of Russia getting into some of our voting machines (not saying whether it did or didn't sway the election but it's problematic) so yeah, CNN is doing their job when reporting on the Russian matter.
