And republicans don't use explicit or Implicit racial appeals? You say this like only the Democrats use racial appeals. I'm not defending one party or the other. Democrats became the party of labor because republicans were the party of capital. Democrats became the minority party because Republicans ignored that constituency. Nixon, Reagan, the Bushes, Trump, the Clintons; they've all used implicit racial appeals to endear themselves to white voters. Trump actually broke with the dogwhistling trend of implicit and returned to the explicit appeals of the early postbellum.

See, I don't know what to make of the article. It doesn't mention much, but what it does mention seems at odds with each other:
-They open with a quote form him about how "his brown ass got talked to all the time about speaking up." Says "it's not diverse."
-The article headline mentions a lack of diversity - "buzz-speak" for racism.
-Manveer Heir mentions in the article white people spoke up as well. Probably big for him since he doesn't shy from being fairly racist against white people in general, which could show how big the issue was, especially when it was "for years."

It seems they're trying to spin it as a race thing, but forgot to edit out the quote when the guy who's usually racist says even white people were speaking up about it and were summarily ignored, which says it might not be an issue with racial diversity but ideological diversity - but "ideological diversity" doesn't bring in pageviews.
