There’s nothing worse than toxic PS4 fanboys and that place was filled with them.
Where are they going to go now? I was happy that board existed to house the most toxic tools on the internet, but now I’m afraid they have no home left :( Also FE Warrios is really fun.

As someone who frequented gamefaqs originally, then gaf in recent years, I'm keeping an eye on this board for now. However it's definitely not a gaf substitute. For myself and many others, gaf wasn't about politics or sjw crap. It was about being able to read and get gaming news quickly and efficiently. There were even awesome topics that I don't see anywhere else, such as one that listed indie games being released each month, with details and links. The community of gamers there was second to none. Unfortunately I'm not finding a suitable replacement for gaf yet.

There's lots of communities out there. I imagine they'll just disperse, some to Reddit, some to GameFAQs, /v/, IGN, Steam, Penny Arcade's boards... maybe Something Awful. I mean I'm pretty out of touch these days so some of my references could be dated, but I doubt any one site will receive an overwhelming influx of refugees. Plenty of them probably have accounts for these other forums anyway.

After all the obsessing NGG has done over GAF, it would be divine that somehow it became a last bastion of sorts to a number of users.

Outside of the individual gaming boards, the normal community boards are not that hopping. There's pretty much just "off topic". I think they'd get destroyed there also.

The build a PC threads, the Switch power speculation threads with some very good insight I hadn't seen elsewhere, the recent Breath of the Wild threads with thousands of posts about notable things to try out with its gameplay systems lesser know secrets, developer posts, etc. Really unfortunate that was just yanked offline and that should not happen again for a popular forum like that without an archive being created.

TC Gaf actually had good insightful topics and was fastest way to see latest news. Gfaqs is just a troll haven who steals their sales/news topics from neo gaf.

Not sure what happened there.

NeoGAF got a real bad rap in the beginning...but I don’t think the TC has visited the site more recently. It became the best place to go for gaming info...if anything, the more active users would do this board justice, but with the amount of console bashers here, I doubt this place would be a good fit for anything productive for them.

No theres no way NGG can replace GAF, it would be hard for a lot of the specialized communities where a lot of gaffers posted exclusively to be revived here because of the different message board format. Also NGG is only slightly above /v/ tier so no this board can’t get worse :P

Unlikely. Part of the issue with Neogaf was you could be banned at the drop a hat just because you took the wrong position on a controversial issue. You had to have a paid email box just to get an account as well so it was effectively a perma-ban. Unlike here where a ban is effectively a three week hiatus while you new account builds karma. GPs don't get banned as easily here either so there's that as well.
