And? If ESPN wants to fire her they should be able to if they feel she hurts their brand. At the same time if they choose not to people may protest them and ESPN can decide if those protest hurt their brand enough to let go of her.

So on the surface I agree with her tweet. The words as they are aren't fireable. Her employer has he right to distance themselves from her and shield themselves from backlash, as we've always said.

You now seem to be for that when you used to be against it and claimed it violeted free speech (or you seem unsure now based on your response about LIBERALS)...so what changed?

This notion that everyone deserves whatever platform they want is dumb. Why does Berkeley HAVE to let anyone speak? They can choose who speaks there. The person they are choosing not to have speak there isn't losing free speech. You're trying to change what free speech means. Speech isn't being taken away just because someone can't have an organized event at Berkeley. That goes for anyone.

And what consistency? If ESPN wants to fire her they can. But it's their choice. They can choose what to do and if their brand needs to be protected. Do you want laws to be passed to force that consistency? Just as Berkeley can choose to cancel a speaker if they feel it would cause issues with their students. Your idea that protesters should just shut up and let them speak kind of goes against your stance on free speech no?

Now when it comes to violence I agree. Violence should never be used. It's still not removing free speech but it's the wrong way to get your point across.

There absolutely are consequences to free speech; thing is the majority of America has to disagree with you in order for there to be consequences. Being a nazi? Yeah you're probably going to get fired for that one. Calling the president something that he isn't? Nah your job is probably pretty secure. All the people saying "now you know how we feel when liberals come at us" no not really, because nothing will happen to the person who made this comment.

Calling the president something he isn't kickstarted Trump's political career.

wow all the free speech people went missing

oh wow, you see it's stupidity like that why there are people dedicated to making sure liberals never take full control of the country. Let me help you, we feel she has the right to say what ever she wants, no one is attempting to stop her from speaking. People are looking for some consistency as it pertains to consequences for bringing politics into the discussion. Now if you want to see what an attempt to subdue free speech looks like, turn your attention to UC Berkeley.

"A government official representing the White House pushing to remove someone's platform to speak isn't a free speech issue but when private citizens do the same thing, that's a free speech issue. Stupid liberals!"
